Cost-Effectiveness of Breast Cancer Screening in Europe

Senior Consultant Breast Surgical Oncologist, Zacharoula Sidiropoulou, from Hospital São Francisco Xavier, Lisbon, Portugal, presents in this MEDtalk a systematic review of the cost-effectiveness of breast cancer screening strategies across Europe. The findings support organized mammography as the most cost-effective approach for average-risk women aged 50–69, while MRI is economically attractive for women at high genetic or familial risk. The review also highlights the potential of risk-stratified screening to better target screening intensity.
