Facial Palsy: Practical Tools to Differentiate Lyme disease from Bell’s Palsy

Lyme neuroborreliosis and Bell’s palsy represent two of the most frequent etiologies of peripheral facial palsy, yet diagnostic uncertainty remains a clinical challenge.
In this MEDtalk, Anna Maria Florescu, MD, PhD candidate, presents a potential clinical decision tool aimed at improving the differentiation of Lyme neuroborreliosis from Bell’s palsy in adults. The proposed approach seeks to support evidence-based decision-making, reduce unnecessary lumbar punctures, and facilitate timely initiation of appropriate treatment.
