New Insight Links Untreated Hypertension to Alzheimer’s-Like Brain Changes
Untreated hypertension is a risk factor for late-onset Alzheimer’s disease (AD), but the underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. At AD/PD 2026, Joakim Bastrup presented data showing that protein signatures link the pathophysiological changes from hypertension to AD. It also provides a new understanding of how untreated hypertension may potentially cause Alzheimer’s disease–like changes in the brain.
