ECTRIMS 2025: Ultra-Processed Food Intake is Linked to Increased MS Disease Activity

Gloria de la Costa, neurologist and researcher at the Harvard School of Public Health, Boston, USA, has dedicated her scientific work primarily to multiple sclerosis (MS), with a focus on environmental risk factors and biomarkers for disease diagnosis and progression.
At this year’s ECTRIMS Congress, she presented new findings from the BENEFIT trial, which investigated whether a validated metabolomic signature of ultra-processed food intake is associated with MS disease activity in patients experiencing a first demyelinating event.
In this MEDtalk, Dr. de la Costa shares her perspective on the results and discusses their potential clinical implications.
